Yes
I see that any HDEW orders are now being fulfilled by Amazon...

So does that now mean that Amazon are seliing "grey" items

I bought my 50mm from a 'fulfilled' partner on Amazon and it came with a USA/Canada warranty card. I'm very certain I got a grey import.

I've just received a Canon G12 from Amazon....US style charger and warranty card enclosed.

I wonder if anything goes wrong with they will replace it

Our coffee filter went t1ts up after 6 mths- emailed Amazon and they're refunding the full amount & getting DHL to collect it.... Now that cant be bad- Just wondering if they'll be doing the same here.....

Why all the panic about "grey" items, We have 4 dslr systems and have saved a fortune by using HDEW, Camerabox, and Digigood, the only failiure we had was sorted out V quickly.

A manufacturer is not /required/ to honour the warranty for a grey import. The warranty is only a legal requirement in the country/territory where the item was originally purchased.

We had an issue with grey imports for a different type of equipment. If you have multiple items, and don't mind doing without the item whilst you send it away to the original importer, then there is no real issue.

The "panic" is that if the retailer refuses to honour the warranty or goes bust you're stuffed.

Continuing this point, no I'm not concerned and consider the risk negligable in view of the cash saved, and on one item is indispensible for a while. I chose to buy my Sigma 50 /1.4 and my L lenses, however with a Canon Uk warranty in case of adjustment being needed.

Doesn't the ever popular Kelso (apologies if I've spelt the name incorrectly) import his gear in the same way as HDEW and camerabox?
