Help 35mm or a low end zoom for a crop.

I have a 70-200 L4 for a 1.6 crop and also have 18-200 EF-S which I'm planning to sell and replace with a low end L prime or L zoom, to have a walking lens, I'm thinking 16mm or a 16-35 zoom, I also have a 50mm, Im planing to upgrade to FF in the near future. Any advise please....

Well, 16-35, 50mm + 70-200 is a perfect setup for FF, not quite so for Crop but it would do. I guess it depends on how soon you'll be going full frame.

Thanks Nawty, would the Prime would have a big impact on quality over the zoom, or should I go for the versatility of the zoom? Mostly I want it as a walkabout lens. Thanks for your advise.

Maybe also consider the 17-40mm as it will leave you more of your budget for a prime. I've got a 50mm 1.4 and I've just bought a 35mm 1.4 to replace it with as I wanted something wider. Primes are expensive but well worth it in my opinion.

EDIT: I use a 24-105mm as my walkabout, 24mm is wide enough for me majority of the time. I bought a 16-35mm but it's very wide and don't see myself using it often so probably end up selling it and getting a 17-40mm and a 70-200mm for around the same money.

To be honest I would look to get a second hand 17-55mm IS F2.8 as they hold their money really well. That way when you get your FF camera you can sell the 17-55mm and get something like the 24-70mm F2.8 to replace it.

I don't know much about Canon lenses but I would go for the zoom, as on full frame 16mm is mega wide and pretty specialist. Also, given you tend to shoot landscape at smaller apertures anyway you lose one of the reasons to get a prime.
