Have a location shoot next week but can't think of any theme or location. The model is just 16, which is an age that I have never done a location with b4.

Will be based in the Essex (lakeside area) don't want to make her & her parent travel to far, but can seem to get a good idea for a theme or location...

Anyone got any ideas?

The time of year is doing no favours to the foliage at the moment - leaves seem to be disappearing faster than they are turning colour - at least at Belhus Woods, where I walk the dog every day, but I wonder whether Chafford Gorge could offer anything of interest, if you want a natural environment.

Another possibility, although not so close to Lakeside, is Tilbury Coalhouse Fort.

As far as theme goes I'd ask the girl if she has any thoughts.

Her reference points are likely to be very different from yours (and her parents) - could she be after a fashion style shoot?

Pick up the likes of Dazed & Confused or iD magazines to get some inspiration. If you are near Soho (Old Compton St especially) pop into one of the newsagents and you will see they have dozens of thick style magazines that you probably have never heard of eg. Velour.

Go onto the model websites, eg Select Model Management to also get inspiration.

Andy, all depends on the type of shot your after, I'm not a 'people' shooter but can suggest a few good places close by if you want outdoors.

Rainham marshes - only £2.50 to get in and if you walk round a bit there are a few options for backgrounds.

Tibury fort.

RHS Hyde hall - still a few flowers about, some really nice garden scenes etc

Heybridge Basin Maldon - little bit further to travel but nice canal / boats etc

Few ideas for you there.

Rainham Marshes, if you mean the RSPB reserve, has free entry for members and residents of Thurrock and Havering. Parking fee is voluntary. It's quite a trek to work all the way round though, at least lugging gear. I've wondered about using it to shoot other than wildlife, but it doesn't really grab me.

There is also the Thames Walk, just outside the marshes, although not much variety of backdrop there unless you head towards London and get some more industrial, rather than bleak and barren, bits to explore.

Dave (Starrider) knows of some bits of graffiti wall near Grays, but I have no idea of the exact location.

Thank you for your comments. i have driven past Rainham marshes many a time but never been.
