Help me value this (for insurance)

I'm considering taking out insurance on my kit....

If you were to value this on a new for old basis , what would the value be ?

I bought all my kit preowned so no idea on new values...

New value for your old kit if you needed to replace it. This is just a rough estimate from prices online and what a canon 40d would have cost new. Insurance should be cheap for this lot as long as your not using it professional use and leaving it in your car.

If you want to find out any prices of new equipment, as you do for a new-for-old insurance policy, the Camera Price Buster website is a terrific resource.

It might be a good idea to discuss with your insurers what constitutes "new" when the "old" item has been withdrawn. For example, the new equivalent of a 40D is a 70D (£850-ish), but some shops still have stocks of the 60D (sub-£600). No point valuing it, and paying premiums, on the basis that you'd get a 70D if the policy would actually only pay for a 60D.
