I can't post in the For Sale section - I have read through the rules but I keep getting the same error:

steveinhants, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Please check the following before contacting us or posting in a different forum

1. Is your account activated? (Check your welcome email for the activation link)
2. Check and double check your email address is correct and still works (We regularly restrict accounts when a forum email is returned)
3. If you are trying to post in 'Classifieds', then please make sure you meet the minimum membership time and post count
4. If you are trying to start a new thread in 'Classifieds', then please archive your old ones first
5. You may be trying to read or reply to a thread that has been moved to a moderator only forum
6. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, or access moderator only features?

Any help appreciated!

30 days and 100 posts required, and it can take a little while once you hit either requirement.

If you've only just got passed the requirements then the system might not have picked up on it yet.. give it a few hours.

Is that a problem? I can't say I've used this site that much previously...

I don't know about this forum.. but on a non-photography forum I've seen the Admin knock back a post-count when someone has posted a sudden burst of (to use the closest photography equivilent), "Hi there!" and "Nice shot!" posts in order to qualify to post a classified advert.

Oddly enough the exact same question was raised there tonight as well.. the answer on that forum being that the forum software only updates over-night so it doesn't recognise postcounts as qualifying for classifieds privileges until the following morning. The guy on the other forum managed to make twenty posts in about 30 minutes to get to a 50-post threshold.. with an averege word count per posting of less than three. I'm predicting he'll find his post count is still around thirty tomorrow morning on that particular forum (they have a very low tolerance for that sort of thing).

And that's quite understandable if that's all they were doing it for...but let me just make one point to (hopefully) clear something up: I don't get many days off or many when I can spend a full day surfing and catching up on things I like to do. If I'd have wanted to go down the route of the chap you mentioned I'd have posted 100 thumbs up, rather than updating my profile, posting my own images for critique, offering advice to others and generally trying to learn and contribute as much in my free day as possible. Sorry if I sound a bit tetchy but I've never had a jibe from another forum for posting a lot in one day!

This is a touchy subject on this forum. Similar posts have deteriorated, leaving the poster in a worse position than they were originally, or even banned from the site. Some replies can be less than helpful and it all goes downhill. It's not worth pursuing. Best advice? Don't make waves, keep your head down. Things will work out and fall in to place as and when.
