Help needed!

I'm having real problems saving Word files. When saved they turn into temporary files (.tmp) which I can't open. Fortunately I have so far been able to muddle through using my Carbonite back-up to find earlier versions, but its driving me round the bend.

I saw an advert for some software which claimed to be able to solve this sort of problem (regcure, I think), but fortunately googled it first and it had a very very bad reputation. But now what should I do?

Is my harddrive about to crash??

It sounds like you have some sort of worm/virus.

I use Spybot Search & Destroy from Safer-Networking to solve these issues

OK, I'm using Kaspersky but I'll do a scan and then look into Search and Destroy. I think I may have an old copy somewhere - is it updated regularly?

Yes it is ... might be worth getting the latest version as the teatimer is easier to start and keep running in the background. This catches any changes to the registry before they happen and gives you the option of allowing them.

Kaspersky found quite a lot of nonsense on the HD during the scan - strange that it allowed them in the first place, really .... I'll see how it goes.
