HELP off camera flash cord problems

I bought a off camera flash cord after reading about various types on forum I purchased a cord made by yougnuo a OC-E3 to match up to my canon 450 and 430ex II speedlite bought after conecting the two together it does not operate? am I missing something? do i need to change any settings in camera or flash :help
 
Well I've got the same cord and it worked out of the box on my 30D/580EX combo. Check that you have it located and locked down properly on the hot shoe and the flash is mounted correctly, there are no settings to change, it should work exactly the same as when the flash is mounted on the camera. If that all checks out ok then I'd suggest returning it, it's always possible to get a duff item from any manufacturer.
