Help please. Fitting a 10-22mm EF-S lens to a Canon 10D. Is it possible?

A colleague of mine wants to borrow my 10-22mm EF-S and he has a Canon 10D.

The lens will not fit directly to the body, but is there an adaptor ring available of some sort that will allow it to fit?

I've seen instructions on the net that show how to make an EF-S fit but as the process involves a hacksaw I think it's only worth doing if emotionally attached to a 10D you don't want to sell and if you don't mind the EF-S probably having zero sale value later.

As said, it won't fit without radical & irreversible physical intervention. The inability to use EF-S lenses on the 10D makes it a bad choice for an only camera..

Being used to a 10D, for a cheap upgrade he should definitely think about is a 30D or newer xxD body (or steal your 7D) as the more consumer-oriented xxxD models have a bit different (and much more menu-driven) operation logic. He'll be very frustrated with it.
 
The 10D user could buy or rent a 3rd party wide lens. As far as I know a Siggy 10-20mm or one of the other 3rd party wides will fit and work fine.
 
Only way to fit without cutting it is to use a thin macro tube (12mm or similar) BUT this will lose infinity focus which will pretty much make a super wide angle lens useless :shrug:
