Shoot through speads the light a lot more. Reflective tend to be more directional. You can also get silver, gold, white, half silver, etc for the bounce ones.
A shoot through you can place a lot closer to your subject.
FWIW I have a silver reflective one, and a reversible shoot-through / white reflective, for my hotshoe flashes.

Shoot through gives you a softer more wider spread
Reflective gives you, in a way a harsher light. As Jayst84, more directional, so better for bringing out highlights. Also the colour of the reflective material gives different affects, gold etc
