Help with Filters??

Hi Folks,

Another really basic newbie question to pester you with

In the camera bundle i bought last week are.....

4 lens filters... they have the following on them...

Close up +1
Close up +2
Close up +4
Close up +10


Are these used for macro shots??? (go easy on my i am greener than green)


Any help would be appreciated

They are cheapy close ups, which are not strictly macro, but will allow you to magnify the image somewhat. The + 10 will be the strongest so greater magnification, the +1 the weakest.

No worries mate. I admit I've never used a 500d lens though, but did have a dedicated macro lens. Bryan Peterson though does make good vids on youtube IMHO.

this is one I took on a D5000 with one of those "cheapo" x10 close-ups

Hand held as well, I think it was also on the "cheapo" 18-55 kit lens.

They don't cost much but you might have a bit of fun with them I have one but have only used it for the "I wonder if this will work" shots, it's all good for practice

I covet the Canon MPE-65

Yeah, although they're cheap you can get some reasonable shots with them I think for a first attempt at close up stuff.
