Last week went out just to get Chiffchaff. Loads about but they were not very obliging. Anyway managed these rubbish shots.

IDs and/or "rubbish shots" - sorry couldn't resist

It would be nice if trees only had one branch, but there's not much you can do about when you are shooting in the wild.
I don't think they are a bad set of "in context" record shots of the day.
Most of the time I am out I would do better with a mic.;)

Yes I agree NO`s 2 + 3 show the difference in wing length well between a chiff and a willow warbler.

They are not so bad Dai, in fact I would say the third one is a good capture albeit a tad soft.

Dont think its a soft image, it looks like the focus point is just on the tip of the branch in front of the Willow Warbler.

Nice shots...no.3 especially. ID can be tricky - though as you caught a singing male you can ID them in the field as Chiffchaffs sing as per their name (chiff-chaff-chiff-chaff, etc.), whereas Willow Warblers have a descending-in-note whistling call; they are also decidely more yellow around the body, but as always you really need them side by side to pick up on that!
