Anyone know if a Tamron A06E 28-300mm non VC edition will work on a Canon 10d ?
Reason I am asking is a very kind gentleman "gave" me a "magic drainpipe" All he has asked for in return is a standard lens for a Canon 10d which he has gave to his grandson. He had a 50mm on it but dropped and broke it, my funds are a bit limited but I would like to get something substantial for the lad.
I checked the Tamron website but it is not listed, or can anyone recommend something similar for £100-£150ish. I believe the 10d will not use EF-s lenses so my choice is a bit more limited than I thought, I was going to get a 17-85mm

The 10D can't accept EF-S lenses but you can use APS-C non FF lenses from the likes of Tamron and Sigma.

Get a 50mm f/1.8 II... <$100 and may not need another lens... ;-)

I did think about it but would like to offer a bit more than a £70 lens that he has broken already! a decent zoom might be more useful and appetising to a young lad!

How about a replacement 50 f1.8 and something like a Canon 70-210 f4. The 70-210 is quite a good lens for the £60-80 they go for and the constant f4 is a bonus. I got one for the wife a while ago and she got some great photos from it on her 650D.
