ok, well, I've shot a wedding with a D60 and have several words or warning.
It's useless at anything above ISO 400 and even at 400 it's very noisy. If you are prepared to put some PP time in you can use the higher ISO's but it will degrade image quality!
I was shooting parts of the disco and wanted to keep the lighting as realistic as possible so that you could feel the atmosphere there. I ended up shooting manual, with flash set to manual and varying the power from 1/32 to 1/8.
Here are a few:
No flash, ISO 800 and probably cleaned up a little in noiseninja:
ISO3200, no flash, no noise filtering
I'll try and find some flash ones, it seems that the EXIF is saying auto which wasn't the case on the ones on Flickr and I need to head off to work.
All I can say, is practice practice practice. Even with a 70-200mm 2.8 my D60 was struggling to focus and the number of shots there were just out of focus was so annoying!
I only had onboard flash as well, but read the manual to learn where the settings are and have a play in a poorly lit room
