Help with Samsung A40 notification

Got a new phone and it gives the double beep sometimes that we get for incoming texts, no vibration just the double beep, when we look on the phone no texts or notifications show, what is it for.

This is why my Xiaomi gives a notification without an *obvious* message appearing. There's usually a tiny notification symbol right at the top of the screen.
