I was out walking down by the river yesterday and saw a heron, i wasnt set up to take a decent pic so put my camera on auto framed it up and snapped

Sorry the image looked rubbish so going to have a another crack later. Image looked squashed once i had resized it

I used my tamron 70-300mm. I had a circular polarizer and uv filter on
 
i wish i could get this close to one, there must be a dozen of these on a marsh near me but i cant get any where near them to get a half decent shot

Its a big advantage having a 70-300mm lens


Thanks for all the comments guys and anyone give me any tips on how to increase the contrast of the shot
 
After reading some of the comments i have had a play in photoshop and altered the contrast see if this makes it any better

If you want people to perform edits on your shots you should tick the "edits" box in your CP.

Without that showing no one should publish edited examples of your shots.
 
Its fine that hes edited it just the funny thing is that we posted at the same time
 
Unfortunately the bird moved its head as you took the shot. Nice try though.
