[/url]hi all, first rewards from new hide ...went there today ,biting cold wind...few flakes snow last night, plenty birds about..

Not bad results from your first outing :) Have you been seeding the area regularly or are these 'natural' visitors?

If you want to make life a little easier, set up yourself a perch (find the nicest looking branch you can that's fell of it's tree!), and leave food below it... they should land on it then hop down to the food. This will give you complete control over light direction, distance from the hide, background etc... :)

been seeding for about 3 days now...the sun is very strong... thinking of moving feeders to other side of hide, sun will be behind me then... why is it,
even with the sun out, I still have to have, the iso up high 3200?? at 500mm, should i have the os on, I'm resting lens on shelf....should I switch from manual to something else??? P mode perhaps...

If you can keep the lens absolutely steady the OS isn't much help. The problem with bad light is that shutter speeds can sometimes be too slow, it's all about compromises. Another possibility is a flash with perhaps a Better Beamer attached.
