Home made cleaning?

I can`t really afford a cleaning kit for my camera atm, with me being skint.

What house hold appliance`s can you use, Or can you strictly not use any house hold stuff?

I use spectacle wipes from Aldi for lens cleaning. Cost me 79p for a box of 50. cheap enough?

JML microfibre cloths are very good for general outside of the camera cleaning.
Can leave bits on lenses which can be blown brushed off. I got a blue soft cloth
with my Samsung monitor which is great for lenses.

i normally use a scouring pad and washing up liquid for the sensor and front elements of lenses.

never ever ever on the inside of your camera!

as long as you've got a UV filter on the front of your lens (just in case you do do something completely wrong!), just give it a wipe with your tshirt, it'll be fine I have a friend who, in a real pinch, once cleaned his SENSOR with his tshirt :|

the cloths that glasses come with is meant to be cool too.

Don't forget the wire brush to get the really stubborn marks off!

What Dave said about the air in a can . it has been known to freeze and crack sensors

I get microfiber cloths from Wilkies, shirt leaves streakes , undies leaves brown streakes ........................I always use a UV filter as Dave says.If going out in't rain,carry a little piece of shamy leather to wipe lens with.

Don't ever use one of these infernal things on anything you want to remain transparent - lenses, filters or sensors. They almost always spit out white powdery residue over everything. I use them to blow the dust out of my keyboard and the innards of my PC, but *never* my camera equipment.

Can def recommend these, breath on the front of the lens or use some optical cleaning fluid and wide away. Don't forget FIRST to make sure no grit etc on the lens.

My sensor cleaning, foolproof method is Windowlene, it brings it up lovely and clean.

I've heard that breathing on your lens can cause fungus in the lens, don't know how true this is?
