Was on horse visiting duty with the girlfriend so thought I would take some snaps

Completely agree about number 1 but I still prefer it to the second shot. I think you have to be careful about the weird big head syndrome with horses - they can look very odd from certain angles. Appreciate you may have done this on purpose but I don't think it works for this shot.
