#1 is a lovely portrait with good detail
#2 - this is an angle I've failed on numerous occasions. Not sure I've seen a good image from here, as you point out the ear out of sight doesn't help.

im quite pleased with the first pic as there was a barbed wire fence and two post that ive cloned out. his head was hanging over the fence..
