How can I improve my website index page?

I have been playing around with the index page of my website recently but still arn't happy.

I want the index page to leave an impression on the viewer and I don't feel that it is doing so at the moment.

I'm open to all suggestions (you can even download the page and have a play if you really want to ;))

Hi Mate,

Looks fine. The main thing that needs jazzing up is the text and the phrasing.

For now though you may want to check the last paragraph;

"If you would like a photoshoot of any kind, please contact me giving as much information as possible and we can discuss further."

The bright white text on the black background makes it rather hard to read, you could do with a light grey.

I'd suggest just have one large image on the main page instead of 4, probably the porsche one as it looks the best of the bunch. (actually scrap that, put the one of the mustang from head on one there instead)

Remove the red recently updated text, you dont need it.

The writing itself could be improved:
My name is George Williams and I am a freelance photographer based in Surrey. I specialise in automotive photography but I also do product photography, portraits and evening events.

Also, have a play with different fonts to see what looks best.
 
I think it looks a lot better but you are getting a problem between the image and the start of your paragraph in firefox.

the image is to the left and the text starts right after. You might be missing a <br />

Different strokes for different folks!

What is important is that your asking :) Best thing to do would be to create 3-5 different designs, then post them in a poll asking which people prefer :)
