Just quick question, been messing around trying my Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC on my 1D Mark 3........seems fine up until around F7 where starts to vignette a bit......was wondering if anyone else had tried it, or equivalent digital only lens. Use the Sigma 10-20 a bit, zoomed above 12mm seems ok, not great but ok

Reason for asking is im trying to decide whether to sell the 1D mark 2n (which was original plan, or sell the 40D which is obviously 1.6 crop) the 30mm and 10-20 are the only digital only lenses i own now, so was looking to trade them at some point as want to get a 5D mark 2 at some point, but probs a year or so before that, just wondered if people had any advice regards using those lenses on 1.3x Crop until then, or whether worth keeping the 40D instead.

I tried the relatively minor mod of the Canon 10-22 to fit it to my 1D MkIII. I am quite pleased with the results. I found it was limited to 12mm to prevent vignetting but the IQ doesn't seem too bad.

As the 1D MkIII is actually a 1.25x crop the 12mm gives a FF equiv AOV of 15mm. There is no other way of getting anything this wide on a 1D series body.

Saw your previous thread about this, very interesting, another benefit of the 3rd party lenses i believe, that you don't need to mod them for them to fit a FF body, etc, unlike canon's EF-S range......

Think the image quality looks better on that lens then the sigma of mine, other reason wouldn't mind getting rid of it. The 30mm on the other hand, gives stunning images
