I have purchased a lens which requires +26 afma adjustment. The lens is a Sigma 35mm DG f/1.4 Art.

Is this is a dud? I have returned to supplier.

Reason for posting is I'm not sure whether to stick to trying to get a 'good' version or get an alternative (Nikon 35mm 1.8G / 1.4G).

Yep sounds like you got a very bad copy.

For me I am usually happy if a lens needs adjustment between -10 and +10 anything outside that and I would send it back.

In terms of the Sigma it is sharper than the Nikon equivalent so might be worth trying a different copy. My Sigma 35 needs an adjustment of between +3 and +7 depending on which body I use it on.

Thanks Tommy, I thought that'd be the case - mine has +20 using the usb dock then +6 on camera.

Isnt that the point of the dock though. If its spot on now theres no point in being concerned is there?

My 35 ART is at +8 MA without dock fwiw

It is but I have almost been swayed by the reports of unreliable focus.

Because of 1 bad lens? Nikons also need MA. I think you'll be silly to give up on a lens because of 1 "poor" copy. You only need to look at Flickr to realise how good the lens is and what ridiculously good value for money it is.
