No
I have a DSLR, so i'm not looking at one which is all dancing and singing.

Main wants:
- compact
- decent video recording (as i have no video recorder and be nice to take short clips of baby etc.)
- nothing complicated so all family members can use

recommendation on budget and which one.

i don't want to buy low end and think buy cheap buy twice or for it to find limiations down the line.

I have a Nikon D90, and like the menus as had a Nikon D40 before and came back to Nikon as didn't like Sony Interface on the A300.

my old compact now really is rubbish is Casio Exlim, couldn't fault it really (but shows it age at 3MP, slow to take pictures, slow for flash build up)

Lumix TZ6 or TZ7(hd Video version)

Or there is a new couple of TZ cameras.

I have bought a Canon s90 which i love. It replaced the Lumix TZ6 as i wanted better low light capability and manual settings.

i do like low lighting capabilities to avoid using the flash. is the S90 new? just had a quick look circa £350. hmm to be honest more than i want to spend, but if it's going to be better over the long haul, something to consider

I got mine from a bay trader for £288 !

I used to have a Panny TZ7.
An excellent camera - the latest version (TZ10 I think) even has manual control.
It is relatively small (jacket pocket), light, huge zoom for size and very user friendly - it also takes great photos/video:).
