How to fix a Floppy Laptop Screen?

My good old 12" Dell Laptop has recently developed a Floppy Screen Syndrome aas the screen does not stay upright. Any Suggestions how to fix it?
 
the last dell lappy I stripped down [2 or 3 years ago now] had springs on either end of the pin through the hinges which seemed to give the friction or grip to hold it in place but no idea if this is how they all work or not. :shrug: Suppose it depends on whether you are brave enough to start removing bits to have a look or would rather take it in to a repair shop. You could just sit at a desk wth it, with the screen propped against some books or something :lol:

if its anything like the 600 and 800 series then you should have 2 screws on the back (where all the main ports are) near the hinges and you should have 2 screws on the underside pointing up into the hinges. check these are tight.
 
The good thing about Dell is that they provide step by step online dismantelling instructions for all their computers. I had to take apart my XPS1330 a few months ago because of a loose wire to the screen and the guide was clear and easy to follow, with lots of pictures. I suggest you have a look and see if you can find one for your machine on their support pages, and have a look and see if there is anythign replaceable or needs tightening. :)

+1 for this. My screen works itself loose from time to time, all I need to do is tighten them up again!
 
ok it has to be said, Viagra should do the trick! :lol:
