Has anyone ever heard of or better used one of these? If so what are your thoughts, any good or waste of a few bob

I tried one a while back and it was actually better than expected! However, you lose a lot of light (4 stops?). In all honesty you are better off cropping your images (if shooting digital). Plus, these things usually sell for less than a tenner.

I'm after a converter for my telescope use. Using a d7100 and no converter gets images like this sun pic View attachment 34337

But looking thru a Barlow I see loads more. Wish I could get the attachment for the camera to fit one!!
