Yes
ok I have a basic 19'' monitor - YURAKU....came with the desktop PC
set to 1280x1024
using 'on-board' graphics.....plan to add a graphics card asap

and been looking for a larger monitor --- IPS is too expensive BTW

using PhotoShop Elements 7
the righthand 25% of the workspace is taken up by a palette
leaving quite a small area for the actual image

will a widescreen give me a bigger work-area or just spaces on each side

if the latter - what's the advantage of widescreen

had a look at this one ....''link''.....thoughts....

It'll cone with wide screen drivers which will give you a bigger work space.

if you hover with the pointer above where the palet line starts you sould be able to drag it over and make it smaller

nope - that doesn't work
EDIT - FULL and click on palette edge just minimizes the palette
EDIT - Quick then as above has no effect

did you know the surname Powell is derived from the Welsh

'ap' meaning 'son of'...and 'Howell'

''The Welsh surname Powell comes from the personal name Hoel or Howell, which were both derived from the Old Welsh name Houel. The surname Powell features the distinctive Welsh patronymic prefix ap-. The original form of the name was ap-Hoel or ap-Howell, but the prefixes have been assimilated into the surname over the course of time.''

on a WS monitor will Elements 7 just sit in the middle like this

or fill the width of the screen giving more workspace ie fill the blank space above the image as well

the 'lad at Comet' said WS not much good other than watching DvDs..

BUT you all have them,,?...

Unfortunately I cant do a screen grab as I'm using a 4/3 monitor at the mo!

Basically it'll extend the main work space and allow you to view the image in a larger format, as the normal ratio for standard cameras is almost a 16/9 ratio which is the format of pretty much all wide screen monitors. The work pallet will simply move over to make the most of the aspect ratio leaving you the extra work space, all properly proportioned.

Does that make sense or have I made it more confusing??

thanks Jim.....ah technology.? ......us pensioners are left Waaaaaay behind...

so---- looking at my screenshot
the left hand edge will move out to the left on a Widescreen
the work area is therefore bigger
the left side of the image will expand left to the edge
and so the image will expand up and down to fill in the available space - presently unused in my set-up

how's that...?

jeeeez..just seen my 19'' Yuraku on eBay .....£68 NEW........hangs head in embarrassment and heads to shops.....:$
