:p

well mainly due to my NAS woes in the other thread..

Synology DS1010+ NAS
OCZ Vertex 60Gb SSD for the editing box OS/apps drive
LG BH10LS30 Blu-Ray Writer for the editing box for archiving
Samsung HD203WI SpinPoint F3 2TB to add to the others for the Synology

hoping i can clone off the current OS drive to cut down on downtime.

you should be able to take a ghost of the old one and put it straight onto the new drive with only an hour or so downtime :) i think some of the new versions can do a straight copy with no downtime at all !

yeah thats what im thinking but i dont have a box with more than 2 SATA sockets at the moment, sold off my HTPC/storage box when i got the NASseseses.. lol

is sata not hot swap on it?, surely if you can unplug one of the other drives and just ghost the OS drive?

i found something to do in the office without having to put in too much effort - create a Mac image and deploy it mid lessons :)

yeah no answered my own question, there is a box under my desk with a big enough HD to take the OS drive image..

couldnt clone the drive in the end, most cloning apps i tried would not let me image from a larger to a smaller drive.. so reinstalled windows 7 (nice to clear out the crap seeing as im limited to 60Gb now)

in bits..

next job swapping the NAS..
