I have to agree. The first doesn't do too much for me but I really like the 2nd shot. Nice composition and good B&W treatment.

Second shot is very nice. much better textures than first photo. B&W works well too. Nice job.

I like them both, prefer the second one as it is but if you had done the first with more room on top - maybe a portrait shot I think that would have been the winner
