Went out into the garden to re load the feeders and noticed a new to me
What looked like a male Blackcap . First for me if it was one :)

They have become regular garden visitors over the past 3 years or so and I believe some are now even resident - only downside is that they will chase off any other small birds.

That's not good then as I like the wren's robins and bluetits :(

Never had one in the garden but I often see and hear them when out and about.

We had a pair in our neighbour's garden a few years ago but I think the local cats put off the birds from visiting... I managed to get a messy shot of the male. Saw a lovely one in Richmond Park last may too.

Could easily be one.

It is not now unusual for blackcaps to remain here over the winter and also for continental birds to migrate here to overwinter.

It was back on the feeder , I may have a go at photographing the bird in the next few days , The feeders are in the front garden , Most birds are very timid , As soon as I touch the front door they are gone , Can't do through the window as some are ripply effect and others are diamond leaded .
