A quick snap of a new visitor to my garden which I'm hoping is a 'Reed Bunting'??

If it is it takes my garden bird count total up to 33 species!

It certainly is a reed bunting :)

Yahoooo!

I thought it was but there are a few birds of this size that all look a bit similar at this time of year....

It's always great to get another species ticked off and this year has been so rich in the number of birds I've had on the feeders!

I wonder what number 34 will be?....maybe we should run a book on it!!

Cheers

They look like the male, but hey don't have the black head. They do have the stripes so the one you're describing does sound very much like a female reed bunting.

What does she look like?

There is another little bird which seems to come at the same time which has really light stripes/markings around the head/neck area? I have to say that I thought it was a sparrow although the markings do seem a little bit 'brighter' (for use of a better word) than the other sparrows....could this be a female??
