Idiots guide to setup 7D and 2x 430exII

Hi all i have a 7D and 2 x 430exii flashes, ive never used off camera flash before so after a bit of help to set it up wirelessly.

1 How do i set it up?

2 Am i correct in thinking that if i use one of the 430s on the camera the other one wont fire wirelessly?

3 If number 2 is correct what if i wanted the 2 x 430s to flash from the sides and didnt want the pop up flash to flash at all?

Pop-up flash needs to be up, but you can disable it, so that only the 430s fire.

To set it up, press Menu, and you'll find the settings under Flash control.

Not sure about question 2. I use 580s.

1) Page 119 of the manual. :)

2) Yes. The OCF system is driven from the pop up flash on the camera body.

3) You can set it up so that the pop up flash only emits a small flash to signal the other units to flash. I hardly ever use my flash on camera since I've had the 7D.

I use mine for fish photography so unfortunately the pop up flash, no matter how small ruins the photo. I've bought a wireless trigger instead.
 
Still after some help, tried to set this up today i managed to get the 430s flashing wirelessly but cant seem to disable/or get the pop up flash to flash slightly,
Any ideas?
 
WARNING! The following happened to me today and I thought I was going to have to post here to sort it out.
I was at a family Mothering Sunday do and tried taking some photos in low light. Used pop up flash (which I never do usually because I use the 580 but hadn't got it with me). flash worked but picture heavily underexposed. Heart palpitations because I thought the camera was faulty. Set it to GREEN SQUARE and perfect pics. Noted the settings it had chosen, dialled them into manual and lo and behold......seriously underexposed. Sat thinking and the only parameter I could see to blame was the flash exposure.

Started dickering about and realized I had set the internal flash to act as trigger with lowest flash output. I set this up so long ago I had completely forgotten about it. It took me about 20 minutes to work out what I had done.
