IE9 Flash Player Download problem

Hi All,

This is driving me mad and I hope someone can help!!

My OH has been having issues with flash player on IE9 - long story short, certain websites suddenly were not displaying correctly and he ended up uninstalling flash player.

Now trying to install flash again but I can't get the run dialogue box to pop up. The active x control thingy appears as a yellow bar at the bottom and gives the option to open or save the installer file. If you select open, nothing. If you select save, it saves it to the download folder. Nowhere can I see an option to actually run the installer / or just "intall".

I have checked all the internet options on the troubleshooting page from the flash website and I don't know what to do now. Can anyone help please?
 
Run it from the download folder?

Flash very rarely uninstalls correctly, there should be an uninstalled download on the adobe site. Plus I think you need to be an admin for the install and uninstall to work correctly. Least I always have issues on non admin accounts.
 
Thanks Neil but there is no option to run from the download folder - just the option to run. Unless there is another way of doing it?
 
I think Neil means go to the download folder and double click on the saved file. I think the install process needs to download from Adobe so make sure your firewall is not blocking it.
 
Thanks for trying to help but if I double click the file it just asks me to pick a program to open it with - I can't see a way of running it. I did try turning off the norton firewall but that also didn't have much effect. Very frustrating!!
 
I'm at work at the moment - will have to check when I get home tonight. It starts with flash_installer and then there are some numbers "32x...". Can't remember the rest. Thank you for trying to help - I will post back with the full name later.

Ok, just checked and it's:

install_flashplayer11x32ax_gtbp_chrd_aih-exe

The icon next to it is just a little blank page. Double click on it and the only thing you get is the option to open - it asks what program to open with...

aaaand I think we have success! Can't believe I didn't think of that - thank you very much for your help. I was on the cusp of throwing the damn laptop out of the window :bang:
