Hi, Can someone please advise me as to what firewire cable pin amount I need for my Canon 1Ds mark II.
I want to change the AEB mode to 5 or 7 and you need the firewire to do this.
When I type in IEEE1394 for canon it comes up with 4 pin or 6 pin etc and not sure exactly what I need to buy. Even a photo of what I need or a web addy with photo.

Can't you use USB? Most likely wrong, but I thought that would work too.
 
Hi, from what I have read it has to be firewire for this camera function don't no why.

Before you go spending money on firewire cables, what is the computer you're trying to connect it to? I had this bother with my 1DII and it only worked on an XP (I used a 4/4 I think).
 
to transfer your images and change personal settings (ie bracketing, self timer, silent shutter......) you need to connect to the computer via firewire. I have the 1d mk2 which has a 4 pin connection on the body and my macbook has a 6 pin connection,...

the three ports there dvi (for external monitor), firewire, usb.

so for me i needed a 4-6pin firewire cable

I bought a firewire cable and a card for my Vista based laptop to change the settings on my 1DMk2 (the previous owner changed the registered name to mine befoe he shipped it - so I know the connector "was" working). Never could get the damn thing to work on my laptop though. I did manage to reset to default settings through the camera menu system, but couldnt change anythingh else.

Thanks everyone, I found out that it tells you on the software disc that comes with the camera that you cannot change settings with USB must be firewire. Found a Maplins online for only £9 4 pin to 4 pin and 4 to 6, so wait arrival, I think it will be ok as just want to change some settings not tether shoot.
