Someone posted a bit about football books recently. I decided to investigate and spent a few pence on that European Fields by Hans van der Meer which was certainly a different take on the game. I just got today, literally for 1p, a pristine copy of Images of Football - photos from the Daily Mail by Tim Hill. For someone who was never that interested in the sport, and looking at it from the perspective of a photographer, these have provided some interesting visuals. Amazing quality from pre-35mm and manual focus lenses. Love the shots of fans sitting on roofs, half way up scaffold towers etc. Its come a long way from 1872 when the photographer refused to record pictures in case he couldn't sell them!
