Imitating HDR in Photoshop or Lightroom

I have created some HDR images from single RAW files by exporting a copy at -2, -1, 0, +1 & +2 (shown below). I quite like this look and was wondering if there is a way to get the same sort of image directly from the single RAW file without doing the exporting & HDR.

In LR - Try

1. adding some fill light to bring out details in the dark areas,

2. then using the recovery slider to bring out details in the hightlights,

3.then darken the blacks to improve contrast.

4.You can then tweak the contrast curve to your liking.

5.If you have LR 2 you can use a grad filter on the sky or even one on the sky and the ground too and dodge and burn a bit with the adjustment brush.

There is an HDResque plug in for Lightroom, I think it's called Enfuse...
