I am about to take delivery of a new 7D and was just wondering whether i need to uninstall the discs which came with my previous camera or just load the new discs straight in?

You should be fine just going straight for the new one, if theirs any software that needs to be removed for a new version to be installed then the installer should do that for you. Assuming your talking about DPP, EOS Utility, etc..
 
I would make sure you update the software anyway, its invariably out of date by the time we get it with the camera.
 
I have just gone from a 50D to a 7D. I had loaded the software that came with the 50D then updated it from Canon's site so I had the latest versions. I tried it with the 7D when it arrived and have not yet found any problems.
