Importing camera accessories from the Far East

Morning all
I confess to having got myself in a bit of a muddle over what additional charges are likely.
I am looking at a lens adapter which is priced at about £20 and coming from the Far East.
I think the whole Brexit thing and many saying they’re facing demands for extra taxes, etc, has simply added to my total confusion.
Fine with an extra 20% VAT and a small amount for customs, but I don’t want to get walloped with additional courier “handling charges”.
Any help from anyone who has recently imported small value items from the Far East (I.e. in the last couple of months) would be very much appreciated.

Bought many items with no trouble at all ore costly items will most probably be caught for vat, but it depends where you buy them from. AliExpress charge you UK vat as they have an agreement with hmrc. But many eBay sellers do not.

Thanks for all replies. Much appreciated.
I'm happy to put up with any delays, so will probably just get on and order the adapter.
