Hi everyone,

I want to insure my camera, lens and tripod.
I have a nikon d3100 with a 18-55 mm lens and a hama tripod.
This is my first dslr and am totally new to this.
How much should i be looking to pay to get these insured as i dont want to be ripped off?
Thanks
Marco

If you have other things that need insuring - wouldn't it be an idea to get a policy to cover some of your other stuff as well? laptop? PC etc? Not sure what the most basic contents cover costs where you are - but might be worth a look? as mainly it covers items away from home such as cameras as well....

well im living at home so the only items which are mine are a tv and a ps3 which i need to insure aswell.

So do your family have an insurance policy? If you get on well with them - ask them to list it on their policy - then pay a contribution to the policy cost. Would most likely be cheaper than buying a separate policy..

If you don't have thousands of pounds worth then most house insurances should cover your gear both in and outside the house. However, if or when you get a substantial value to your gear I would advise you to get specific insurance to cover it. I'm covered by Photoguard and they cover my laptop as well included in the price.
