Not something i've really thought about much before but I was thinking tonight when i'm away from home with my camera etc etc at times I have around £3000 of gear in my bag and if that was to get stolen i'm going to need insurance right...


Am I been totally naive about this or am I right in thinking I can get specific camera insurance for when i'm away from home and also, who is recommended?

Your home contents insurance may well cover you for valuables away from home, check the policy. It will almost certainly exclude your camera gear entirely if you do any paid work at all, at least mine does. I specifically asked the insurer about this before I took out my most recent policy.
