I would appreciate any help or advice on where or how to find an internship or relevant work experience?

Thanks
Laura

Google the word "photographer" and the area you live in. Contact the results.

Bear in mind, that if you want to train to be a professional photographer, don't be surprised if your future competition don't want to help you.

Try some unusual options as well, try photography shops (even jessops), developing shops (though there's not many of these left I don't think?) basically, anywhere photography based will be good experience and you will learn something. I did work experience in a studio for 2 weeks and left feeling really let down as I learned nothing.

Only now, I'm pretty good at mounting shots, framing pictures, making tea and organising golf trips for other people.

The University of Sheffield has one of the best Schools of Journalism in the world. Give them a shout.

I live in the UK, near Sheffield. I would like a career in sports photography.

Do it the old fashioned way of starting out, try and get some work covering local sport for a couple of local papers.

They will almost certainly be interested as staff togs hate working weekends.

Sadly unless you are really lucky you won't find yourself with a quick path to premier league or the Olympics or F1, but you will get an idea of what it means to be a photo-journalist sports specialist.

Oh and if you can't already, learn to drive and buy a car - a bus pass won't get you anywhere!

Lastly, find yourself a job Mon-Fri because this isn't going to pay enough to keep a roof over your head for some years to come.
