Ipad photo management app

Not sure where to put this, but here goes...

Can anyone suggest a portfolio app for ipad that keeps the file names intact (as they are on the PC or Mac, not the original file number from the camera)
I'm quite happy to pay for it but it must keep the file name.

Im not sure i follow. Are there programs that do change the name of the files?
Ive never seen any of my files get re named when putting them on my iPad.

Sorry if im missing something.

Oh, and i use Photomanger pro on mine, as i wanted the ability to display by latests image first. Not all do that (and certainly not the IOS photo app).
It also allows you to password protect folders if you need to.

Well, photo manager pro shows my images named in the format IMG_****, which is not the name I have saved the files as....

iPhoto on the Mac retains "my" file names, for example a file saved as "broad bodied chaser b" is called that in iPhoto for Mac but iPhoto for iPad shows no name, photo manager pro on the iPad calls the same file IMG_0969.
Not a name that's much use for reference purposes

I think this might be down to which field you are adding the name to, and how this is interpreted by the software.
I have no issues with this on Windows and IOS. I copy my files from card to PC using Downloader pro, and this renames the files to date_image number. This is what i see in Windows when i open the folders, or import them in to LR.
If i copy these to any of my IOS devices this is the name i always see as well.

I drag and drop from the card to the relavant folder depending on the camera they were shot with, which retains the file number given by the camera, then name my shots individually when I "save as" them in photoshop. :shrug:

Interesting. Its not something ive ever noticed before.

I tend to use Dropbox and Google Drive a lot, and for the front end of those i use a program called Files (it might be files pro). This definitely keeps the files names intact, and is a nice program to view the images (and most other files) in.
Might be worth a go?

No problem, i hope you get there in the end. It bypasses the IOS Photo app so works outside of the main OS, although you can save images in to the Photo app.

If you have a look at my profile I started a thread about ipad apps a short while ago.

I eventually chose portfolio pro and if you have flickr it takes your photos from there and keeps all titles & set descriptions.

I had that program as well (Portfolio pro) but it didnt seem to be able to sort my images in newest first by date taken order. This was about 1 1/2 ago though so maybe its changed since then.

@ Dave, yep, files keeps "my" file names, so it can be done, just not quite sure that's the app for me. If it would show thumbnails in the sidebar it might just work. may be I'll email the dev...

@ Dan, does it keep file names as I have described? direct from the computer. with my internet connection I have no intention of uploading to flickr and then downloading back to the iPad (certainly not with the number of shots I have on flicker!!!)

It does show thumbnails, both down the left hand side, or you can have the main window show just all thumbs.
Sometimes it takes a while for the app to load all the thumbs in when a folder is first viewed.

I've never tried Tara: I've only uploaded from my flickr which is one of the main reasons I bought it.

There's a good YouTube vid if I remember correctly though
