I have one at the moment but due to the 'arm' design it is not really suitable for my car, the one I have is similar to this:

Does anyone have any recommendations for a reliable iPhone FM transmitter that doesn't have the arm?

Thanks.

Hi Colin,

I bought a Monster one when I was in the states in 2005. Still going strong now and is great quality. When I bought it they were stikll illegal to use here but I have seen the same model on sale in the UK. It is the Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus model.

Hope this helps.

Chris :)

Here's a list sorted by how good they're supposed to be, but as a previous owner I wouldn't really recommend one for full-time use. I drive between home and uni, a 270 mile journey, and even if I can find a clear bit of the spectrum when I set off, as you drive around and different signals come in, I had to keep re-tuning the transmitter and radio.

Eventually I bought a cheapo new stereo which has an ipod and 3.5mm jack input!

Thanks guys, a lot to consider (like not bothering!). :D

Must agree with some of the previous posters, having tried several and got fed up trying to find an empty FM space, found it easier to change the car for one with a usb and some other connection built in the radio.
Not possible to change radio becacase of it's facia type (anti-theft I think)
Probably not what you wanted to hear though !!!

Can it stream though bluetooth?

I connect my nokia N97 through the car radio via a bluetooth adaptor, runs as a bluetooth handsfree combined.

I bought a Griffin iTrip Auto FM Transmitter Charger iPhone 3G 3GS for £21 off ebay, less £10 free Paypal voucher. Cost me £11.

Works well. On a trip from Yorkshire to Devon I had to change frequency a couple of times, but so simple to do.

I use it in my caravan to transmit to radio - works perfectly.
