This is a lovely yellow iris I found yesterday on the edge of a forest pond.

Is that just a normal Yellow Flag Iris? Like the way you have isolated the flower head from it surroundings.

As a pic I would have liked to see the back petal in focus as well as the front, but I love the effect you have on the stalk and the background.

Thanks Allan. I wanted a wide aperture to throw the background out of focus, but I just cant tell how much it will be.

The dof preview button tells me nothing......it just goes dark or light ... Id never have been able to tell by using that if the rear petals would be out of focus.

Is there a better way?

Yes, thanks sawman. like I said above to Allan, I find it difficult to tell just how much to use to do it.

These irises seem to be round all the ponds at the moment.
