Is it Secure?

Bought one of these 85Mbps Powerline Adapter and connected to my wireless router downstairs via a CATV cable and plugged in a socket. Did similar to the desktop upstairs in the study.

My wireless router is secured with a password.

Do I also need to secure Powerline Adapters too?

Any advise

These have 85mbps. Do you suggest going for say 200 Mbps?

I assume you mean you have plugged one end the ethernet cable into the powerline adaptor and and other end into the wireless router and then upstairs you have another ethernet cable from powerline adaptor to your PC\Laptop. If this is the case then you have a basic cabled lan connection going via your 240v home wiring.

You won't need to add any additional security measure unless where you live your house wiring is shared with your neighbour (house converted to flats??).

The speed you get over your house wiring will depend on the quality of the cabling, best bet is to download some lan test software of the internet and see what speed you are getting now compared to the advertised 85mbps, I would expect you to get around 30 to 50mbps.

Also you may get trouble with thing like hoovers, washing machines if they are noisy electrically (remember when mum used to turn the hoover on and all the lines appeared on the TV??).
