Is it worth picking up a nikon d80 or d200 as a back up these days?
I've seen them in a couple of those buy and sell shops, d80 comes with a 18-70 and d200 has an older lens and grip on it, £119 and £200 respectively.

The D80 is still a perfectly capable camera, and the 18-70 is a decent lens, at £119 a good price too.

I had a D80 a while ago, and I did get some nice images From it. Good point it has an internal motor. Bad points not too good at high ISO and no video function.

So long as you don't need to shoot at high ISO, and don't need video. Then if it's cheap and in good condition, go for it.

D80 with 18 - 70 for £119 might be worth it, if it's all in very good condition. But there again, for not a lot more money extra you could probably get newer better kit.

I would prefer a D300 to behonest instead of the D200. That D80 with the 18-70 for 119 is decent. Maybe put a bit more for the D300.

Aye, probably more sensible to get a newer body for not much more.
