Is the box important?

I know this may seem a daft question but..............

I have finally received my Sigma 24-70 back from being repaired (After six weeks!). Now if I sent a lens back through the post I will always make sure that is is as protected as possible. This mean the lens being in it's protective pouch, then in its original box and finally wrapped in bubblewrap. Anyway, I have just opened the package to find that it is not in it's original box.

So now to the daft question: Is the original box important enough for me to phone Sigma to request its return? The only reason I can think of is if I ever want to sell it. I have a sneaky feeling they will probably have binned it anyway. If it was you, what would you do?
 
has it come back in a box? and did you get everything back like the case etc?

i wouldnt worry in truth myself

i still keep all my original boxes though. you could phone em and try if it bothering you though
 
That's just it, I don't know if I'm bothered or not. Can't really see myself selling it TBH and if I ever need to send it back I can always keep the box and those foam quaver things that Sigma sent it in. OTOH I also keep all my boxes and it may niggle me.

I really should just phone them shouldn't I? :bonk::bonk::bonk:
 
Personally I don't see what all the fuss is about boxes and if it wasn't for the fact that buyers seem to like having the box I would bin all of mine as they take up so much room. I suspect most people are like me and once the camera/lens is out of the box it never sees the light of day until sold on. :shrug:

However, in this case Marc I think they have been a bit naughty in not sending it back in the original box which I would presume have the serial number etc printed on there. I'd be on the phone to chase it up.
 
I'd want back exactly what I sent of to the tbh. Even though you say you dont plan on selling it you never know what the future holds and a lot or potential buyers like a boxed item.

Yup - i'd be ringing them.

I always tend to keep things exactly as i got them, just in case i sell them on. They always sell better if boxed :)
