Yes
Looking at purchasing a 2nd hand d7200 camera and then getting a starter 70-300mm to get me back into photography, currently have the lumix fz82 bridge but my passion has been re kindled decided to expand my photography and re learn.

My budget is about £400 for body (2nd hand) is their a better body out there? My passion is wildlife and bird my aim is to save up for the 150-600 but in the meantime I need something.

D7000 is a decent camera, and cheaper than a 7200.
D7100 wasn't a great improvement over the D7000, but the D7200 was.

I really want but cant afford d500 but I’m going back an forth between D7**** , d5300; d5600 it’s a mind field
I’ll look at d7100 aswell

Of all those you are looking at the d7200 is comfortably the best option.
It’s a great camera imo - I loved mine and it helped get me really into photography

I think I’ve convinced myself of that one... now to find a good one

I did the same a switched between the 5300 and the 7200.
I decided i probbaly won't use the extra features....
Im now looking at swapping to a 7200.
If you think you will use the extra features then buy one now

I moved from D3200 to D7200. It's an excellent camera. I never used the WiFi function but it was so much more intuitive than the 3 series. I'm now on D500 and again, it's leaps better. You won't be disappointed with the D7200 but don't get a rubbish lens.

The D7200 is a very capable camera, I used it for some wildlife shots but, as said, you need a decent lens to do it justice. :)

Here's a sample...

I can see you!

Yep agreed a extremely good body . Coupled with good glass The results are stunning ..had to sell mine due to needing a lightweight Rig ,but would buy another

Check out henry turner on you tube, he is a full time landscape photographer and uses the nikon d7200. His enthusiasm is quite infectious.

I had one and used it with the 16-80 Nikon and 70-300Tamron, loved it but unfortunately my tripod fell over and the 7200 and 16-80 went for a dip in the sea. Went full frame after that but seriously thinking of going back to a 7200

iv seen a few of his videos, thought he was a bit of a gimp at first:LOL: but now I quite like him, started on him after id seen all Thomas heaton s videos(y)
I used to have the D7200, cant fault it..

are they heavy
no love ,I had a massive heart attack last year and can no longer walk around with 600mm lenses and tripods etc required for birding

I used to use a D7100 and D7200, now superseded by 2 D750's for daily use. I kept the D7100 and D7200 and their lenses as backups, but still occasionally use the D7200 when I know I will need a longer reach. The D7100 and D7200 both produced good images that sold, but I needed better low light performance.

Hornet with that combination from a happy distance
I use that combination as a walkabout most of the time, yes it can be on the heavy side but manageable

well I've found 1 decent d7200 at a grade of 8 for under £400 there like 'rocking horse poop' at the moment an get a decent d7100 might keep looking for the d7200..... but patience is not my strong point on purchases.

Thanks for all the great responses

I bought a d5300 to get into SLR (after break of nearly 40 years) and found it very good - used it with a Tamron 16-300 instead of the 17-55 kit lens. I after a couple of years I got a used 150-600 C to go with it and I liked the combination. I am thinking of putting the d5300 (12500 shutter count) on ebay as I have now treated myself to a used d500.

I'd keep looking out for the 7200 rather than the 7100.
I've kept my 7200 as a backup to my 750.
