Hi all...a new development...i am enroling in a college course for beginners NCFE lvl 1 as i am a complete noob, i was told that i could use a point and shoot camera if i am unable to buy a Digital SLR camera, now i really want to have the equipment to use all the time and not just when at the college, but my problem is i will only be able to save around £200 for equipment and would be greatful if you could suggest a camera that would do the job for the first course.

Obviously i will be upgrading after the course so its just to get me through the first...if there is one that is around that price that is lol.

A good, used Canon G10 would come for that money and probably still sell for £150+ at the end of your course. It has AF,not fast enough for high speed action, but for the kind of thing you will be doing it has full manual control, which is what you will need....courses are designed to teach YOU what is going on, not to blindly follow what some little man in Japan has programmed it to do for you! How does he know what you are photographing or how you want to photograph it?

The G10 is a very capable camera - I use one professionally for certain jobs. Robust and good picture quality. Even takes speedlights and off camera flash.
