Is this a faulty sensor, or faulty card?

Got a Canon 550D this March. If you look at the pic you'll see in the bottom right corner purple lines. I had this before, much much worse and at times it could obscure half the shot, I think always on the RH side.

I changed my SD card, and the problem went away for several weeks, but yesterday I got this again. It's only a little bit, but I think that's how it began before.

What I'd like to know is this a problem with my cards - Kingston - or is it likely to be sensor damage? If the latter I'll get a warranty claim sent off.

Have you got another make of card you can try, say a Sandisk. If the problem comes and goes depending on what card you're using, there's your answer :)

Thatd be the card, one of my sandisk CFs is like it and as a result i avoid it like the plague now!

If you bought the Kingston Cards off eBay theres a high chance of them being fake.
 
Do you format the card each time or just delete the images?

I just delete images every time, and only occasionally re-format them. Card came from either 7 Day shop or My memory, can't remember which one.

However, on a hunch I've just downloaded the images again, and this time there's no problem. Think that makes it the card.

I'll try reformatting. I was beginning to think it might be the card as the problem went away when I decided not to use the faulty one.

Thanks guys for your help. A new card is cheaper than a new body, which would have to be a 5DII!!!
 
Thanks, I've decided to do that. I've got a few months before my camera warranty expires so the problem should be identified in plenty of time.
