Yes
I was a Canon man for twenty something years and moved to Nikon last year with a D300 and then the D700 because I simply thought the cameras were better in most areas.

When I got my D300 after a 50D I was amazed how more advanced the Nikon was hence then buying the D700, which I really loved.

I suffer from an eye problem and found my preferred shooting style of landscapes and wide angle lenses was not doing me any favours and decided to sell up and buy a compact camera as I was so disillusioned with photography due to being partially sighted.

I set off to Jessops with a stash of cash and tried out around 6 top priced all in one cameras and realised these were just toys compared to what I was use to and also realised I would not be happy with one, I also knew that living without a camera of some kind after 28 years was not an option either as the void it leaves is horrible.

So I sat down and worked out a D300s or a 7D was the body for me being cropped suits my ability and eye issues, a good 70-200 f2.8, Macro lens, nifty fifty 1.4 and 20mm f2.8 would cover the bases and give me some money left over for other things.

My Wife uses Canon so I really wanted the 7D so we can share lenses but feared it would not live up to the D300s after my experiences when I switched last year,
I read so many reviews and conflicting reports about the 7D I just could not make up my mind, so I downloaded the 7D manual on PDF and read it from start to finish and was amazed how more advanced Canon had become since my 50D.

So as you can guess my 7D arrived today and it is like welcoming back an old Girl friend who has had so much cosmetic surgery you know it is the same person but they look and feel so different and better lol.

The thing I notice straight away is that if I had jumped from the 50D to the
7D I would find it a complete culture shock and can see why some people struggle to get the best from it at the start.
However having been used to the D300-D700 there is nothing here that I don’t understand or find totally different, in fact I would say it has more in common to the D300 than the 50d if that makes sense.
When Canon made the 7D it is not hard to see where the inspiration came from and to be Honest they have obviously learnt from Nikon in a big way.
I am also thankful that I spent a year on the dark side to discover and widen a greater understanding to DSLR cameras and functions, but it is great to be back where I am happiest and with the lenses I love.

Now Canon just needs to get their butt in gear, stop concentrating on megapickels so much and make the ISO performance at least nearly as good as Nikon...
